2015 Fair Queen Contestants

 

Adriana Avina

Adriana Avina is a senior at Caruthers High School. She is the daughter of Miguel and Adriana Avina. She enjoys playing tennis and helping others. She is involved in FFA, Varsity Tennis, Migrant Leadership, Doctors Academy, CSF, Punjabi Club, and Los Amigos. She is running for Caruthers District Fair because she loves her community and wants to give back to the community. She is looking forward to meeting new people. She plans to attend UC Santa Cruz and wants wants to major in Microbiology and minor in Genetics. She is thankful for the opportunity to represent her hometown as a 2015 Caruthers Fair Queen Contestant.

Savannah Benavides

Savannah Benavides is the daughter of Heidi and Johnny Benavides, and granddaughter of Tim and Sondra Nolen. She is a junior year at Caruthers High School. She is an active member of Caruthers FFA where she has spent the past two years showing sheep, goats, and hogs. She also competes in many FFA CDE’s such as Mock Job Interview contests and Floral Design and Judging contests. She has been on the Varsity Cheer and Dance team for two years and recently finished her first year on the Girls Varsity Wrestling team. She is also in the Doctors Academy and Block “C”. Running for the Caruthers Fair Queen is something she has wanted to do for many years and sees it as a great way to network and expand my contacts. Savannah thinks it is so great that our tiny town gets some recognition for hosting California’s largest free-gate fair and would love to be a part of keeping it that way.

Megan Edlund

Megan Edlund is a junior at Caruthers High School. She is the daughter of Everett and Shannon Edlund of Caruthers and the granddaughter of Everett and Beverly Edlund and Raymond and Sharon Beck of Caruthers. She is involved in Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Basketball and Varsity Cheer. She is running for Caruthers Distract Fair Queen because she loves how involved and caring her community is. She is blessed to have the opportunity to represent her hometown of Caruthers as the 2015 Caruthers Fair Queen Contestant.

Kylie Montgomery

Kylie Montgomery is from Laton, California ,and a senior at Riverdale High School. She is the daughter of Brian and Kelly Montgomery and the granddaughter of Rodney and Denise Montgomery and David and Debbie Marlton. She enjoys cheerleading, riding horses, wakeboarding and spending time with my family and friends. She’s excited to represent Caruthers District Fair as one of the 2015 Queen Contestants.

Ashley Ramirez

Ashley Gonzalez Ramirez is a junior at Caruthers high school . She is the daughter of Juan and Margarita Ramirez . Ashley is involved in cross country , varsity basketball , and varsity cheer. She enjoys coaching her youth cheer squad and spending time with her family and friends . In the future Ashley plans to attend San Diego State University and major in kinesiology. Ashley is running for Caruthers District Fair Queen because it would be a great experience to meet new people and to represent her little home town that becomes popular around this time of year. Ashley is thankful for being given this opportunity to run as a 2015 Caruthers Fair Queen Contestant.

Samantha Roush

Samantha Roush is 17 years old and a senior at Riverdale High School. She is the daughter of Chris and Lorna Roush of Burrel. Her grandparents are Dick and Bonnie Schultz of Burrel and Ray and Donna Roush of Riverdale. She loves to ride dirt bikes, quads and horses. She enjoys shopping as well. Samantha is the incoming Riverdale FFA President and shows swine at Caruthers and Fresno Fair. She is the incoming Riverdale Student Body Secretary, Varsity Cheer, and dances for Extreme Motion Dance Studio while taking AP and honor classes. During the summer she works for her grandpa driving water truck. She is excited to run for Caruthers Fair Queen for 3 reasons. To meet new people, raise money for college, and to raise money for the fair that her family has enjoyed for many years. She plans to attend Fresno State or CSU Fullerton and obtain an AG Business degree with possibilities of Ag Education as well. Samantha would like to thank everyone who supports the candidates to keep it the free gate fair. She is very excited for the opportunity to represent the fair she loves as a 2015 Caruthers Fair Queen Contestant.

Amanda Stephens

Amanda Stephens is a senior at Caruthers High School. She is the daughter of Bert and Denise Stephens of Caruthers Engine Parts, and the granddaughter of Glenda and the late Ralph Stephens. She enjoys playing video games. She is involved with the Caruthers Floral Team. She is running for Caruthers District Fair Queen because she wants to help support and keep the Caruthers Fair running. She plans to attend a culinary school, and hopes to one day have her own bakery and or restaurant. She is excited to be able to represent her small town as a 2015 Caruthers Fair Queen Contestant.

Taylor Wood

Taylor Wood is the daughter of Cindy Guynes and James Wood of Caruthers/Easton. She is the granddaughter of Jerry and Janelle Guynes of Fresno, CA and Lee and Kathy Wood of Three Rivers, CA. She just graduated from Washington Union High School and plans to go on to college and pursue a career in Biology. Throughout high school, she dedicated her time to all things in Agriculture including showing and selling market animals at the Caruthers Fair in FFA. She is running for Caruthers District Fair Queen because she is excited to help keep the fair going for future generations and to be a role model to her little cousin. She is thankful for the opportunity to represent her hometown with hard work as a 2015 Caruthers Fair Queen Contestant.
