President’s Letter
As the 93rd annual Caruthers District Fair approaches, there is much excitement in the air. The Fair Board has been preparing all year to once again bring Caruthers’ Favorite Community tradition to life. We hope to bring back the values and traditions you have always enjoyed while striving to make improvements on the experience of our fairgoers each year.
Once again, you can expect great family fun with our carnival rides and games provided by Johnstons Amusements. Come and enjoy the Livestock Show and Auction as our local area students exhibit the hard work they have put into raising their animals all year. Since its early beginnings, the goal of the Fair was been to promote agriculture, so these students well represent the values and heart that the Caruthers Fair was founded upon. The Horticulture and Floriculture exhibits also showcase local agriculture and talent on display.
Another area featuring local talent can be found in the Home/School Arts Area where artists of all ages will vie for blue ribbons. Fairgoers will also be able to stroll through our two commercial buildings where many interesting exhibits and products will be found on display.
For the racing fans…make sure to come and check out the improvements made this past year at the motorcycle arena! The excitement takes place Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights of the fair brought exclusively by the Fresno Motorcycle Club.
The Fair Queen contestants have been out selling raffle tickets all summer in hopes to be crowned this year’s Fair Queen. Make sure you purchase your tickets for a chance to win a 2022 Ford Mustang and plan to attend the Queen’s Coronation on Wednesday, September 28 to see which candidate will be crowned the 2022 Caruthers District Fair Queen.
This year’s Entertainment line-up will not disappoint! Starting Thursday of the fair, both stages will welcome a broad range of musical genres. This year marks the 30th year of Caruthers Fair entertainment by Jeremy “Elvis” Pearce and we look forward to another of his crowd-pleasing performances on Thursday evening.
Don’t forget the annual Fair Parade in downtown Caruthers on Saturday morning at 10am. The parade is a family favorite event where bands, floats, horses and decorated cars bring joy and excitement to all.
Of course, the highlight for all who attend the Caruthers Fair is the amazing food! Local non-profit organizations can be found along “food-booth row” offering your traditional favorites as well as a few new options to choose from.
As you walk through the fair this year you will notice the old restroom building has been removed. Plans have been drawn to build new restroom facilities and we are currently awaiting county permits to begin construction. Although building new restrooms isn’t the most exciting project, it will in fact be the most expensive of all building projects we have undertaken and will certainly be a great improvement. We hope you’ll consider joining us as we raise funds to complete this much-needed building project. We look forward to seeing you at the Fair!
